Racing thoughts, worries snowballing, insomnia, inability to be present in the moment or focus on one thing at a time; art can help with all these things. Cultivating the observant artist’s gaze and attention to detail, being aware of the movement of the brush on paper and using a pen to track your breathing are all techniques which can help us experience calm in our every day lives. Come along whether anxiety’s a big part of your life, or you’re simply interested in the concept of art and de-stress.
We will explore the artistic process as a meditative and mindful technique, bringing our awareness back to the present and our surroundings. We will make a number of little artworks using different mediums and you will also have extended time to focus on a larger artwork as well.
