By the way we will be awarding some Laneway gift vouchers for the 'best' puppets at the end of the night.
A sock puppet is something anyone can make. Once you let out a little bit of creativity, you never know what sort of character you’ll come up with. We’ll help you to think about who your new sock friend is and what he/she is all about, before letting you loose on our stash of sock puppet goodies. Best of all we are holding the class at The Duck Inn so you can sip beer and munch on yummy pub grub whilst constructing a meaningful handful of alter ego with like minded people! Oh and there will be some prizes for ‘Best Puppets of the night.”
We’ll discuss the types of characters you might want to create and how you can achieve that. Then it’s up to you. We will have a huge supply of general materials and socks in order to make that dream come true. When you are all done making, you’ll name your sock, of course, and then we will have a meet and greet with the other socks and a photo-shoot to end the night.
Kate and Elyse have no specific technical skill in sock-puppetry, just a keen interest in fun with crafts in general. Both Erskineville locals, these girls meet up for regular craft evenings, which is where the sock puppet creating all began. Kate’s crafty interests include cross-stitch and pompom arts, while Elyse likes a bit of crochet and appliqué.
