‘Collaborative consumption’ (or the ‘sharing economy’), describes the many businesses and not-for-profits that enable people to access things without owning them, or share their stuff with others. The logic of access over ownership is pretty simple: why buy a drill when all you want is a hole? Rent one for an hour from your neighbour instead!
There are now platforms that allow people to share their spare rooms, cars, garden plots, clothes, camping gear, tools, time and more. This class will give an overview of the sharing economy in Sydney, and how you can live a cheaper, more sustainable and more connected life by getting involved.
