Have you ever walked through a museum, browsing ancient sculpture and Renaissance paintings, and wondered: “Which god is that supposed to be? And why is there a 3-headed dog next to him?”
Come along to hear about the eccentric characters of the world’s most well-known extinct religion.
We will learn about about the Olympic gods: their histories, ancestries, relationships, fates, individual skills and responsibilities. We’ll discover what it was like to be an inbred deity, rushing from temple to temple collecting the sacrifices of those who needed your favour.
We’ll learn too which mythologies influenced the Greeks in creating their own polytheism, and how the Greek Pantheon influenced other mythologies that came after it.
Paul works in the travel industry. He has spent a decent amount of time looking at sculptures and paintings.
