Join the crochet revolution. It’s calming and addictive and it’s not a grandma thing anymore; we’re even seeing boyfriends crocheting scarves to give as presents to their girlfriends. Heroes.
All you need to know to make a granny square (the most common basic pattern), including: the correct way of holding crochet hooks, getting a feel for the correct stitch tension (crucial for even stitches and flow), and the 3 basic stitches.
By the end of class you’ll know how to get started on your own little project, like a scarf, jumper or baby rug. (Note: we can’t promise that you’ll have the skill to make a nice scarf, but you’ll know how to start!)
Laura King is an artist and a classical soprano, and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She has been sewing, crocheting and knitting for 16 years, and whenever she isn’t performing in an opera, her favourite pass time is crocheting. In the photo on the left she’s wrapped up in her own creations! (Photo credit: Deborah Abesser.)
