Please note there will be no sewing in part 2, this 2nd session gets you designing you unique quilt.
Modern quilts can be made from beautifully simple shapes or blocks. Now you’ve got the sewing tecnique under your belt you can get one with the ‘big picture/’ This part 2 will teach you how to design a quilt using half square blocks. This is a design it now – finish it later workshop, so there won’t be any sewing involved in class. Perhaps you have already come along to one of Helen’s classes and have learnt the basic technique of paper piecing or maybe you have done a little quilting already – so now you are ready for the next level of making, or maybe you are just interested in designing beautiful, intriguing geometric patterns – as these designs could as easily be scaled up and made of paper and framed? The possibilities are endless once you know how.

In this workshop we will create a number of quilt designs using the ever versatile half square block.
You will learn how to approach the design of an intricate full size quilt.
In the workshop you will learn how to sew half square triangles, learn how to design quilts using preprinted paper grids and how to start a design journal to capture your wonderful quilt designs in the future.
Helen Richards is a textile designer and professional quilter, with an amazing, deep knowledge of the history and social significance of the art of quilting.
