Bring a pen and notebbook
There’s no doubt that writing a book is a big job and getting started is the hardest part. It’s the hours we spend avoiding writing that takes up all the time. If you put your mind to it you could write your book in a flash! In this workshop we will get the difficult first step out of the way and set you up with a timetable that could see you with a draft manuscript in 3 – 6 months.
Using mapping and visualization techniques Jan Cornall will take you through the steps for creating a solid framework for your book idea. By the end of the workshop you will have a title, chapter outline, synopsis and more, with goals and timetable for completion. Even if you come to the workshop with no idea what you want to write, the exercises will make it impossible not to come up with something brilliant.
Author Jan Cornall has an MA in Cultural and Creative practice and has been teaching writing at writer’s centres, community colleges and universities (UWS, UTS) for many years. Also an experienced meditator, Jan uses a meditative writing method to take writers deep into their creative source. She has been mentoring writers since 2000 and every year a number go on to publish with major publishing houses. Jan also leads international writers and creativity retreats in Bali, Laos, Burma, Morocco. In August Jan will take a group to Bhutan and in November she will lead a 10 day journey, Haiku Walking in Japan, following the footsteps of the sixteenth century Japanese poet Matsuo Basho.www.writersjourney.com.au
